It's Launch Day

Hi, everyone! Wether you're here from Hacker News, Product Hunt, or Reddit, welcome! I wrote up this little post to sum up the current state of affairs with The Wheel Screener.

Making Indy SaaS Products Cool Again!

I made a new year's resolution in 2021 to make boutique SaaS products awesome again! (Read: I spent far too much time in 2020 playing video games and generally depressed about the state of the world. It was time to change that.) The Wheel Screener is my first (of hopefully many) software products for 2021.

The Wheel Screener: A Tool For All

Maybe you're new to the trading options and just exploring, or a veteran trader who is using The Wheel Screener to screen for interesting options. I've tried to build the dashboard out to benefit both ends of the spectrum.

Features in the Pipeline

I'll leave this list as a living document of what features I have planned (and which ones I've already completed since initially creating this post on launch day!):

• Free and Premium: Ability to favorite options ✅
• Free and Premium: History of favorites and back test if it would have been a winning trade or not ✅
• Free and Premium: Simple Account Page where you can view your favorites history and back tests as mentioned above ✅
• Free and Premium: Login with Google (and a few other external providers - I need to upgrade Netlify's Identity services to do this, which is rather expensive. I will do this if this product gains enough traction!) ❌
• Premium Only: Ability to view the dataset as a table ✅
• Premium Only: Email subscriptions, to daily picks, blog updates, or both ❌
• Premium Only: Ability to refresh option data during market hours, as often as the option APIs will let me (typically 120 calls per minute) ❌
• Premium Only: Mean greek values vs. time (as a chart) for a given underlying, could be interesting ❌
• Premium Only: Realtime data for select options - with care, this should be doable at ~5 minute intervals ✅
• Premium Only: Store all contracts and not just the ones that meet the model assumptions. Furthermore, see how many contracts (as a percentage of all contracts on the market) meet the model assumptions ❌
• Premium Only: API endpoint and site displaying the current model assumptions, and how they have changed over time ✅
